Eastbury Manor House
Set in tranquil gardens this truly remarkable Grade I listed Elizabethan house is an unexpected treasure in the heart of Barking. Completed by 1573, Estbury Hall as it was formerly known, was built for Clement Sysley and his growing family. This rare example of a late 16th-century brick-built Gentry house tells an extraordinary story of survival. Threatened with demolition, The National Trust, who recognised its significance, acquired it for the nation in 1918.
